Versailles Philharmonic Quintet Is Born
2008-09-14VERSAILLES
The visual-kei band formerly known as Versailles has finally settled on a name change!
As previously reported by musicJAPANplus, the band had to change their name once they realized that there was already an act in the United States called 'Versailles'. Owing to that artist's trademark, the band decided a change was necessary and solicited suggestions from fans over a two-week period at the end of August. Despite the short period, over a hundred thousand letters were received to give the band name suggestions and support in the face of this issue.
After much thought, the members all decided together upon their new name: Versailles-Philharmonic Quintet-. They assigned the following meaning to the extra words:
Philharmonic- related to music, and loving music. The members felt it was appropriate for the music they intend to make.
Quintet- they are a group of five people
For now, the name will only be used for the band's activity in the United States, and they hope to be able to reclaim the name 'Versailles' in the future.
"We'd like to say thank you to all the Versailles Filles out there," the band said on their website. "The suggestions we received were so filled with love that each of us was deeply touched. The five of us make a quintet, but with the help of all of you joining together with us, we are philharmonic as well. We'd like to give a shout-out to the American artist Versailles; maybe some day we can play together." They concluded their message with some lyrics from their song "History of The Other Side", and announced that a new song, "PRINCE", could be heard in its entirety on the site as a thank-you to all visitors for their support. Be sure to go and listen today!
